Troop 179 Endowment
Families of BSA Troop 179:

This letter is being sent to request your support for the funding of an endowment established in honor of our Scoutmaster Chuck Williams. This endowment was started commemorating both Troop 179 and Chuck’s 40 years in scouting. That is right, Chuck Williams was one of the original boys in the troop and has been with us ever since. (or should I say we have become a part of his troop ever since.)

This endowment is with our Clinton Valley Council and is used to support our Council camps (Agawam & Lost Lake). Monies collected for this fund are to be invested for perpetuity, with only the proceeds (interest or dividends) being provided to the Clinton Valley Council for the specific purpose of supporting outdoor camp maintenance or development.

Our original drive quickly generated in excess of $5,000.00, so it was decided to raise our target goal to the James West Memorial level of $25,000.00. Today’s effort is part of a planned annual drive that will be repeated until our goal of $25,000 is reached.

Part of why we are doing this is because of Chuck’s vision and dedication to scouting and in particular to Troop 179. By completing this goal Chuck will be immortalized, so to speak, at our council camps. This is only fitting since he lives for scouting and its principles, values, and methods.

Your assistance in attaining this goal is requested at this time. Several generous donations have already been made but we are still a long way from our goal. Please make your checks payable to “ BSA Troop 179 Endowment” and forward them to me at the following address.
